Tope Note Stepper Card

Today's card I made to thank some lovely ladies for sending me beautiful flowers whilst I was in hospital recently. It is a Tope Note Stepper Card, the instructions for which I got from Julie Leece. I have had the instructions for ages but never got around to making it. Julie's instructions where nice and easy to understand.
This shows the side on view. The only problem I had was were do I write on the card.

On this card I have used a new stamp set, Fabulous Florets, from the up coming mini  catalogue, due to start on 1st December. I chose whisper white base and baja breeze, rose red and pink pirouette card and elegant eggplant and black ink.
I liked it but what do you think?

Till next time

CHRISTMAS FUN

I have seen various forms of these "elf legs" online, so I decided to get some Christmas spirit happening and make some of my own. These were fun to make and I cant wait to share them with family and friends over the Christmas time.

Arent they just so cute?
These would make great gifts for anyone.
Thank you for visiting my blog.
have a great day

Mum's Birthday Card

My Dear Mum celebrated her birthday recently while they were visiting and helping me out.

I was working the day of her birthday, so being unorganised as I was on that day I even had to buy her birthday cake. It was a Berry Cheesecake from the Cheesecake shop. This would have to be the first Cheesecake I have ever bought. I always make the cheesecake or whatever cake is needed for the birthday. Oh well even Domestic Goddesses have their off days!!!

This is the card that I made for Mum's Birthday

Mum really liked the card I made for her. It was particularly hard trying to make this card with Mum hovering and asking what I was doing all the time. I ended up waiting until everyone was in bed before getting it done.

Birthday Greetings

I made this card for a close friend who celebrated her birthday last Thursday. I hope she had a great day and was spoilt by her family.

Using the Elements of Style stamp set, but not the flowers this time. I have used rich razzleberry, old olive, whisper white cardstock and ink and some retired old olive taffeta ribbon from christmas last year. I saw a card similar to this online somewhere but cant remember who it came from.(sorry)

Thanks for stopping over here to have a look.
Regards
Michelle .

Missing In Action

Well my dear friends, sorry about the lack of posts lately. I have had surgery and just haven't had the inclination to post any of my cards etc. I have had my wonderful parents with me for 8 weeks, they came when my surgery was to first go ahead and when it was cancelled they just stayed on. Mum and I did some crafting, trying out a few new things and even had my Dad peeling off the double sided tape backing when we were mass producing calendars for the school fete.

So over the next few days I will show you some of what I have been up to in the last little while. Mind you I made some lovely thank you cards, but gave them away to the hospital staff that looked after me so well.

This is a birthday card I made to give to my Mum for her birthday, but not the one she received. I made two and then couldn't decide which one she would like the most.

This card was made with soft suede, baja breeze and cherry cobbler card stock.
I even tried my hand out at embossing with the cherry cobbler embossing powder, not bad for a beginner in this field.

Well I hope you are all geared up for the oncoming festive season and are all well and happy.
Take Care

Another Thank you.

Like I said in my last entry, I have been making some Thank you cards.
This one is extremely similar to a birthday card that I received from a friend of mine Fiona Platzer.
I have to admit that this stamp set Elements of Style is also a favourite of mine.
The card is made using Elegant eggplant, marina mist and white cardstock. Marina Mist DSP, soft plum and old olive ink. Also used the Scallop Trim border punch.
Have a great day,
Michelle .

Thank you

I was going through my stash of cards, to find I have a thousand female happy birthday cards and very few of anything else. I am in need of a few Thank you cards, so set about making some.

I even decorated the inside a little. I really like this card. It is made using Crumb cake, Baja Breeze and vanilla cardstock. I embossed the front of the card using the Square Lattice embossing folder. I have used a retired SU stamp set but I just love this stamp set. Also used the Modern Label punch.

Hope you like this card.

I'm Back.

Hello Everyone,
Well the last couple of weeks have flown by with no real time for crafting.
My parents have arrived for a visit, they were coming to help me after some surgery but that has been postponed for a month.(bugger!!! and I am so disappointed, but know it is for the best in the long term.)
So I have been busy making a few items to keep my mind busy.
I would like to share with you a few of these.

First is this little Desktop Calendar box by Connie Babbert and thought it was a potential gift idea.
I have used some new cardstock and retired DSP and greeting. Am liking that the DSP had flowers on it and the butterflies fitted in. The only thing I have not done is to add a brad to the little draw, I would like to find on in the shape of a butterfly, to finish off the theme of this project.

Here I have tried to give a side on view of the box and card.

Hope this finds everyone well and taking care,
Regards

Tie a Yello Ribbon Round the Old Oak Tree.

Well its been a busy days with no crafting at all, so tonight I sat down and decided to complete a greeting cards challenge over at The Outlawz. It is a greeting card inspired by a song. I chose Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Old Oak tree. I like the brightness of the Daffodil Delight ribbon and the kraft card seemed the right thing for the embossed tree...and what tree is complete with out a little owl of say "hello"?

So, what do you think? Does it fit the challenge discription?
Hope you like this card I have shared today.

Birthday wishes.

Hello for today,

This is a card I have made for one of my friends who had a birthday yesterday. We met in the evening for card making, chatting, laughing and yummy pastries and cake. Hope you had a great day Alex.
This card is quite simple and uses the new in colour wisteria wonder in card stock and ink. I have also used elegant eggplant dsp. The flower stamp is from a new hostess set called Posy Punch, the sentiment is from a retired mini set. The edge is the scallop trim border punch.

Again I apologise for the colour in the photo. I just cant seem to get it correct some days.

Have a great day.

FATHER'S DAY

Happy Father's Day to my wonderful Dad whom I cant share Father's Day with, but he knows I am thinking of him and will see each other soon.
A Happy Father's Day to father of my two children,Trevor.

I cant show you the card I sent my Dad because I made it at class and then sent it off before taking a photo of it. The card for my husband, also made at class, is sealed in the envelope with his present. (and who was it that said Mother's Day was just money making for the shops??)

I will share with you the card I have made for my Father In Law, who has had many a caravan in his day and likes to take off travelling when he can.

The colouring on the van, leaves a bit to be desired but Oh heck, isnt it the thought that counts??

Will be back with a post later when I can photograph Husband's card to show you all.

Take care
Regards

Bright and Cheerful.

This card was made specifically to enter a challenge over at Jay Gee's Nook.

I have only entered one challenge before and that was over at Creations by Fi. this is stepping outside the comfort zone.

I have used the dress form from a stamp set in a past mini from SU, some daffodil delight dsp and retired ribbon on white card stock. I have tried to keep it clean and simple. My photos aren't all the best but here goes nothing.

Thanks for stopping by, please let me know what you think. I would appreciate all constructive criticism.

BIRTHDAY GIRL

Nothing to do with stamping or craft, but this was my gorgeous girl on her birthday. 14 going on 24 most days. We went out for breakfast, then to the movies and back home for birthday cake and candles. "No photos though Mum!", but after my persisting, she gave in and allowed just a couple of photos of her on her birthday.
No birthday is the same without birthday cake and candles. Gorgeous girl asked for a sponge cake with cream and strawberries, so her wish was my command.

Take care everyone.

CAS ENTRY

This is something a little different from me.  I have been wanting to use this stamp set for a little while but wasnt sure how. I have used it to make boys cards but there is this little bird and another in the set, along with these designs that look like ?? long flowers or grass or something.

I was going to enter this in Fiona's challenge but I am afraid she will think I am stalking her. My next challenge for myself is to find a challenge site and submit to it.
Stepping outside my comfort zone once again.

This is a card made using a non stampin up stamp set, but using concord crush card, ribbon and ink and a new incolour lucky limeade(available from 1st September).

Thanks for looking, I would love to know what you think.
Regards
Michelle

Birthday Wishes

Well, my beautiful girl turned 14 yesterday. My creative mojo just up and left. I have had so much trouble making the perfect card for her. So I decided on nice and simple, and she seemed to like it.

Just 3 pennants made into a banner, with a sentiment at the bottom.
Not my most creative but Ashleigh liked it.

Take care
Michelle

BUTTERFLY EASEL CARD

Hello Everyone,
Well a busy week has been had by everyone.
I had been trying to make a birthday card for my gorgeous girl who turned 14 yesterday.
Wow, that crept up on me quickly.
I found these beautiful butterfly easel cards over at Bronwyn Eastley at addinktivedesigns, so decided to give one a go. I really have cased this card, just changed the colour of it. Bronwyn dose some lovely work, so please pop over and have a look.
I have used the new incolour of Wisteria Wonder and a sentiment from a new stamp set.
I am also going to enter this into the CAS challenge at Fiona's at Creations by Fi.

Hope you have all had a great weekend.
Michelle xoxo

Short and Sweet

I am having a run of these cards lately. They are a bit fiddly to score and make, but I just like the design.
This card is a lot simpler than the previous post.
Is it a CAS (Clean and Simple) card or not?
Have a great day,
Michelle

Pink, Patchwork and Flowery??

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for stopping by to see today's card.
I was asked to make a couple of cards and the lady concerned likes pink and patchwork and sewing.
Well, you'd think that was easy...yeah right!!
I am not sure if I like this card or not, I think I have over done it a bit but will share any how.
This is my first attempt at patchwork in a card form, I just made it up as I went so it is probably not like how others do it.

Because of the flower and ribbon on the front of the card, I chose to make a envelope box to put the card in so the flower didn't get crushed.

So... what do you think about the card and box?
I'm still working on the photography too.
Thanks for stopping by,
Regards
Michelle

Hello today

Hello for today,
Here is a card I made for a friend back in July.
I wanted something bright and cheery.
The marina mist and daffodil delight certainly made the card nice and bright.
Till Next Time,

New Principal at Maribyrnong Primary School

I made this card to congratualte our new Principal on winning her position. Jenny Howard has been at Maribyrnong for some time now and is an inspiration to everyone. Jenny won the position of Principal this term and everyone at school is delighted.

It is another step card in Rich Razzelberry, I think it is nice and simple but elegant. What do you think?

Take care everyone,
Michelle

Stamp a Stack samples.

These two cards are the other cards we made at the stamp a stack. Dasher again, but in green card this time.
And here is the cute little owl bringing christmas greetings.
I have at least 2 or 3 cards made to give at christmas, but I had better get started on a heap more.

Have a great day,
Michelle

CHRISTMAS IN JULY

I hosted my first Stamp A Stack back in July and had 7 lovely ladies come along. We made 2 different cards and 5 of each. The cards are relatively simple so things can get done easily.
I made a scallop circle card with dasher on the front (I do love dasher) and another using an owl for something different.
The girls seemed to like the cards and I hope you do to.
This is the card in the "red" version of dasher. I have since added some rhinestone bling to his antlers.

The card is fairly simple and Fiona over at Creations by Fi is having a CAS card challenge, so I am going to going to try and submit this card to the challenge.

Thanks
Michelle

Here goes nothing.

Well, I seem to have got the first part done....now let's see if I can upload a photo of a card I recently made.
I have been making some centre fold cards recently, just for something different.

So here is one that I made.
This card is going to a very special person in my life. My MUM.
She loves to sew, or has done in the past, unfortunately though she has a little trouble these day.
This stamp set just reminds me so much of her. All my life there has been sewing machines, buttons, tape measures and reels of cotton in the house. In fact I have some of the old wooden cotton reels somewhere that we got from my Grandmother, they look a lot like the one on the card.

If you like this then please leave me a comment.

Michelle

FIRST POST

Hello and Welcome,
This is the first post on my Blog - Woodburn Crafts.
What an achievement this is for me. Who knows if it will make it online or not though.
I am making this bold jump into the online world so I can show my Mum, family and friends some of the crafty things I do when we are so many miles apart. I seem to be doing card making at present but I think I need to do another scrap book project soon.

I have to thank my friend, teacher and fellow card maker Fiona Platzer for encouraging me with this endeavour. We have been attending Fiona's card making classes for a couple of years now and they are always fun and inspirational. You can see some of Fiona's fabulous work over at Creations By Fi.

I will try and put some cards on here very soon. Wish me luck.

I hope you all enjoy visiting my blog and return soon.
Thank you
Michelle
